Welcome to Martock Church of England VA Primary School.
We were built in 1974 and we are a co-educational day school for pupils aged between 4 and 11 years.
We are a Voluntary Aided Primary School which means that the church has a majority representation on the governing body, and that the teaching staff are in sympathy with the Christian Faith as expressed by the Church of England. The school is in the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

OUR SCHOOL AIMS

Martock School aims to nurture children in a secure and caring Christian environment. We believe in the development of the 'whole child', giving the necessary attitudes, abilities, interests and spiritual awareness for future learning and adult life.

We aim to develop:

  • an understanding and concern for others
  • a sense of fairness
  • each child's self esteem and self confidence
  • values that will make them responsible members of the school and wider communities
  • a positive attitude towards learning
  • the key learning skills of literacy and numeracy
  • a wide range of knowledge and skills across a broad and balanced curriculum
  • extra curricular interests and skills

It is the aim of the staff to ensure that the school is a happy and successful one. To achieve this all staff work hard to make coming to Martock School a rewarding experience for the children in our care.

WHEN TO REGISTER

It would be helpful if parents could register their child as soon as possible but it is vital that they are registered by the December before they enter school. Please telephone or call at the school office for a registration form.

Prospective parents are always welcome to visit the school and should contact the secretary for an appointment.

Opportunities are given throughout the year for parents to discuss children's progress. We are always pleased to see parents at other times, by appointment.
We aim to offer a curriculum which is broad, balanced, relevant and matched to the child's abilities. We aim to develop the four areas of English - listening, speaking, reading and writing - and to develop a broad understanding of mathematics.

As a Church of England Voluntary Aided School we maintain close links with our Parish Church, and welcome the participation of the church in our work and worship. We strive to establish a strong Christian code of behaviour and self-discipline.
