Our School Curriculum
BROADER CURRICULUM AIMS
The children should develop:
- an enquiring approach to problem solving in all areas of the curriculum.
- a knowledge of basic scientific principles and an understanding of the processes of simple experimentation
- an appreciation of, and the skill and confidence to use modern technology.
- a knowledge of the heritage and culture of our local community in particular, and of the world in general.
- the confindence and ability to express themselves aesthetically and to appreciate the achievement of others.
We intergrate aspects of the curriculum whenever appropriate.
CONTENT AND ORGANISTATION OF THE CURRICULUM
The curriculum to which each child is entitled provides a framework to ensure the development of the children as they move through the school. The basic requirements under the National Curriculum include five "core" subjects:
English, Mathematics, Science, RE and Information and Communication Technology.
There are six "foundation" subjects:
Art, History, Geography, Music, Physical Education and Design Technology.
In addition to the subjects specified in the National Curriculum, the school curriculum also addresses cross-curricular issues such as:
Personal and Social Education, Health, Equal Opportunities and Multi-cultural Education.
The school operates both the National Literacy and Numeracy Initiatives.
